SUCK IT IN, SOLDIER.
Saturday, July 30, 2011 at 1:14PM Engage your abs ALWAYS.
Sometimes, people aren’t as overweight in their midsection as they seem, they just forget about their abs and their gut gets distended.
Remember, strong abdominals will be a natural weight-belt that will help your back. It will help your front. It will help your everything.
Your abs are the "Barry Whites" of your musculature. They’re your first, your last, your everything.
I keep my bodyfat percentage pretty low year round, but I could still look as though I had a bit of a pot belly if I didn’t keep my abdoms engaged all the time.
If you take a martial art of some description, you will most likely be told to tighten your abs if you take a punch to the midsection as it will protect your vital organs.
Here’s a tip to help you remember to see if your abs are in line: every time you check the time, check to see if your FRIKKIN ABS ARE ENGAGED or just hanging out there. Even when you’re sitting. No, scratch that. ESPECIALLY when you’re sitting for long periods.
And speaking of weight belts, don't use them. Strengthen your core properly and you won't need a weight belt. The only time you should be using a weight belt of any description is if you're using one that has a chain from which you can hang additional weight to challenge your pull-up and / or dip strength and ability.
Have a strong day, abdominators.
