ON PREGNANCIES AND BOOMERANG BODIES: EXERCISE THOSE PREGNANT THIGHS!
Monday, August 1, 2011 at 12:07AM Ladies, let's be honest.
Exercising before, during and after pregnancy is VITAL.
BEFORE PREGNANCY
It is especially vital before birth because as you exercise not only are you releasing endorphins to increase your feeling of well-being, you are releasing growth hormone that is also available for the fetus to assist in providing a strong foundation for the development of a strong musculature while in yo belly.
DURING PREGNANCY
Exercise is vital (while of course considering the advice of your OB/GYN as to when to quit exercise just prior to the child birth) to help with easing the child birth process.
Perhaps it will be easier for you to have a natural childbirth if that is the route you are choosing to go.
AFTER PREGNANCY
Regarding post-partum exercise: Muscles are like elephants, they never forget.
With apologies for the analogy that I'm sure most of you gals don't want to hear, as you are already dealing with the issue of self-image or feeling too large during pregnancy.
But remember your muscles have muscle memory and they, along with your body, will bounce back more quickly after birth due to muscle memory. Like, super fast assuming you exercise again as soon as you're up to it and or cleared to do so. Post partum exercise is vital to recover the musculature you had before pregnancy - assuming you worked on obtaining one previously! It will give you that "boomerang body" that every woman wants after birth.
Have a strong day, boomerang bodied babes.
