We are sometimes told that growing up that “you will get over it” or “you don’t feel that way—it will pass.” What we really needed or currently need is someone to validate our emotions. We feel a certain way not because we choose to, but are due to experiences we still have yet to heal from. What we do with these emotions is always our choice.
It is important to address each other and the way we feel as by doing this, we can choose to approach how to move forward. We don’t have control over emotions from our circumstances, but we do have control over how we choose to react to move forward.
Let’s be aware and accept our emotions. Let’s choose to react to them in a way so we can move forward.
